When I began to make copies of David's student, Cochereau's painting David's Studio in late 2005, which led me to make miniatures of some of the objects in my studio, I found there were a number of other artists making related work, like Joe Figg's fabulous recreations of well known artists' studios and Tom Burkhardt's deeply satisfying (if only experienced in reproduction) cardboard recreation of his own studio.

Historically, of course, there is Matisse, Courbet, Morandi, and Guston to begin a partial list.
